Can Asesprite be Used for Tileset Creation?

on: December 13, 2016, 09:27:38 pm
I'm pondering what program to buy since I deleted my email and forgot to switch emails for Pyxeledit...
Now I'm pondering buying Asesprite because it's new and heard gets frequent updates and it's open source.
I was just wondering if I could possibly making tilesets in Asesprite and use them for game mockups and other stuff
I've been looking all over the internet but I can't find anything about it. I was wondering if anyone knew about the topic
or if it's ever been done before.

Honestly you can use anything for making tilesets.
Aseprite has a few features specifically aimed at that, but all it really requires is setting up a defined measurement (for example, 64x64 pixels, my standard) then sticking to that while creating the individual tiles.

If you're looking for SPECIFIC tools though, then aseprite is probably a good bet, and honestly I reccomend it to most people anyways.

PSA: use imgur

thank you for the reply! just that I'm seeing which is more friendly towards that type of task, Aseprite looks like an amazing software just because of the animation features and it's bright future. Pyxel Edit just hasn't been getting many updates for awhile So I'm looking for something new.

I'd recommend aseprite for making tilesets as well. You can start by using its "tiled mode" view to create a first individual tile, and then process to the rest of the set. The "tile mode" helps to erase any seams your tile might have.
