[CC] Brand new to pixel art

on: September 01, 2016, 10:06:11 pm
Hey dudes,

new to this forum + pixel art in general, i've made a few really simple drawings to get my feet wet, and i'd love some direction towards what kind of content i should be absorbing to get better - i.e. certain tutorials or artists that helped you get better. also looking for constructive criticism of course. thanks in advance.

first attempt: a little fox man main character for a platformer

a blob and his death animation

a demon's head, tried to get familiar with a palette

a monk in a flying kick pose based on this

Welcome to pix!

Cool start man

Some quick thoughts on skullhead

Did nothing much, just desaturated the colors, did some structural fixes, established a light source
Hope that helps :y:

Regarding your pixel "technique", I'd say that avoid all that noise. Strive for simple first. Go for CLARITY over DETAIL.

There's a lot of pillow-shady stuff going on like rimlights on on the heads. Think of the forms before thinking about the light and texture.

The bigger forms come first, then come the smaller forms on the bigger form like details and texture.

Keep posting more :D
