Help with Grassy Background?

on: July 13, 2016, 11:41:09 am
So I have a background I'm using for a game, and it looks really simple and I kinda don't like that. Iunno if anyone can - or wants - to help, but I'd appreciate it. I have two pics, one just the background and the other with monsters imposed onto it.

First of all, save your images in .png format and reupload them. You can see when you zoom in (and even without zooming) that the pixels don't look clean because of .jpg compression.

I hope this is better.

Yeah, a lot better. I think you should saturate more the characters so they pop up from the background a little more.

Maybe try adding more objects in?

quick edit:

Obviously, if this is for a game you have to make it to a tileset, but i'm sure adding dirt, rock and taller grasses will do. And of course my fix isn't the best, just making my point clear  :P

Hi, I think that you need to take different approach. Currently dark background (regardless of how saturated is) makes everything look dull and muddy. Also it's not best choice to choose background in same color as main character cause it increase chance of making them blend into it. Of course there's solution for everything.

Here's my attempt of edit. It was very fun editing time and I'm sure this is just one of the possible solutions.
Hope that this will help you. :)
