Alright, last one :

I don't know as I can do anything with the arms. The size of the sprite and awkwardness of their position kind of made it difficult for me to get this far. Any suggestions?

I spent ages getting this far I'm relatively pleased with it, but I think I've messed up a little- it could do with being about twice the size as she's kind of lost on a 640 x 480 screen. I don't think simply zooming it to double size will do, as it'll look either too blocky (or a bit blurry if I put it into fullscreen mode). It's a shame really. I suppose I could use it as a paceholder, though. Again, I suppose many of you have more experience than I do at this kind of thing, so what would you all suggest?

Surely with your spriting skill of the original you would have been able to do this okay? I think the lightness is now fine, but you need to define them more. And i'd either keep all the outline black/dark, or all of it selout'ed - not a mix of the two.

Well, I have my "on" days where everything looks okay and my "off" days where it doesn't, and it's still mostly trial and error at the moment. Hopefully my work will be more consistent in time.

Here's an edit I did to hopefully help you along:

I think you're not defining the chest from her arms enough, making it all blend in, and you're definately not making the structure of the arms stand out enough. What you were doing was going from all too dark arms, to all too light, instead of light inside and subtle dark outlines.

Okay, thanks for the advice everyone, I'll bear everything you've said in mind. I think I'll redo her at double size and see how it goes. I'll be back.

Seperate your tones a bit. The tones are too close to each other. Good luck!

Hm, has some good shading, a nice colour choice... needs a bit more features in the face area. Maybe you should darken the top of her shoes.
That's the only crits I can come up with for now :).
