Pixel Art Pack

on: May 02, 2016, 12:54:08 pm
Hey guys, I want to share with you what I've been doing on the last 4 weeks, it's a pixel art pack which clearly shows how have I been improving while I was doing it.

Please let me know your opinion of this and how could I improve. Thanks a lot.

I like your designs but i think the shading is off. Most of your large ones only use light and shadow to show bits of detail and not the overall shape making it look a bit flat. Eg. Anahutran has the light coming from the right but the back is still just as lit as the front apart from the edge. You also use some dithering where you dont really need to.This isnt as a problem with the smaller sprites though they still look flat because the light hugs the edges.

Thanks! I'll try to improve that for the next sprites!

I'd love to see you keep producing content and improving, these designs are all quite entertaining. Try working on making your shadows more intense/harsher. It would boost your perspective, and make your images a lot better.

The biggest issue I see with the shadows isn't that they're not deep enough, but that you're shading details but not the overall form. For example, the Anahutran sprite looks like a flat board with some bits sticking out of it, rather than a fat, rounded mass of tentacles. When you colour, try starting with the overall form, then add shadows and highlights to details afterwards.
