Hereafter this will be the place where I post pixels and sketches that I don't feel deserve their own topic.

Not much of a dump yet, but I like it :)
Inspired by Helms triangle stuff any?

See, this is using some nifty tricks. There is no face, yet our brain makes this triangle mess into a face. Reallly great, really conceptual! Congrats!

This actually takes it even farther than Helm. Now if we could make a piece like this in C64 specs, we'd actually have something useful!

There is no face? Bollocks, I say. He made it with a face in mind and I think everyone not seeing a face pretty quit or even at first glance has some visual or cerebral impairment. Very abstracted, but still a face. And yes, it is very nice.

Also how would a c64 thing like this be useful? Doable and nice, yes. Useful, wha?

You can basically use this to overcome specs in a stylistical method, rather than inventing new screen modes. It's hard to explain, so I won't and leave it at that...

Oh, and I was talking about the fact that the triangles themselves don't form a face. You can see this by explicitly focusing on the greys and shifting your eyes around the image. It's the negative space in between the triangles that actually creates the face illusion. I've got a paper on this somewhere, but I don't know where.

It seems logical that it looks like a face, because duh, he created it as such. Actually the brain is pretty much tricked in seeing it that way. Again hard to explain, so I give up :)

If you can not back up your argument's maybe don't post, wisecracker. Also durr, negative space difining an image, new trick. And it's not only the negative space making the face, the mouth/mustache, eyes and such are shapes. Kthxbye.

No more derailing now.

I think this is what he was referring to:

We've got a vase/grail like object, yet we get the impression that there are silhouettes of two people even though that means the vase is not a vase at all.

And there is no spoon.. ehm.. box.  :D

I could elaborate, but I'm not going to feed an off topic discussion.

As for the sketch, there's not much here to crit at the moment. His nose connects with his forehead, but that's about it. All I can say is it would make for an interesing style to try out on a larger peace.

I'll wait until theres more on the 'dup'.
