How would I make a pixel art title for my game?

I am a programmer, right now I’m working on developing a game. I need to produce a name of the game (title) which has to be in pixel art. Any tips on how to draw a medium sized title in the style of retro 2-D pixel art?

Start by searching for any of the many pixel art tutorials that are around the net.
