Many RPG Portraits

on: May 13, 2015, 10:30:47 pm
Hi pixel fellows.

I'm working on a classical SNES-era inspired jrpg for a long time (at least 4 years) and doing almost all the graphics for it. I did mostly a lot of envirement and will mabye post some stuff too in near future. But for now, I would like to hear your oppinions on the portraits. Nearly each character in the game has a unique portrait, so it's quite a lot of work. I have finished 28 pieces so far and I could post all of them, if you like. But for now (and at first), I want some critique on the 4 heroes.
The story takes place in a world where humans are a minority. Most people are "animalka", composite beings between humans and animals ("furries", as far as I know).

Here are the 4 main characters (one has a human and an animalka form):

Pigeon-form. Dont wanted to give the charakter a beak, so I gave her some feather-hairs.

Rabbit-form. I think here it's quite clear.

Rat-form. Hm, don't know how to make it more clear, but I want to keep his skin dark.

Cat-form. Quite common too.

But don't get me wrong, I don't want feedback just concerning the animal-form.
Here is the palette:

Thanks  :)

Really neat stuff!

One thing though, is that all the animal forms keep a human nose, have you considered perhaps elongating it for the pigeon-form and rat-form? Give the pigeon a more hooked/beaked nose, and give the rat more of a snout of sorts?

critique was given in the livestream.

"Because the beauty of the human body is that it hasn't a single muscle which doesn't serve its purpose; that there's not a line wasted; that every detail of it fits one idea, the idea of a man and the life of a man."

Many thanks to Cyangmou for the great help I think I learned a lot by watching and trying by my self afterwards. I worked a bit on them and here is my result so far. I also tried out different noses for the pigeon-typ and I think a beaked nose looks quite good aktually.
