The Beast. OMG FINISHED

on: August 20, 2006, 09:42:36 am
Latest update:
This is my (obviously unfinished) entry for a pixel war at Pixel.
I think this is my best work yet.
Slightly inspired by our man St0ven.

That looks really nice. It's nice to see your new work, shadow wolf. He needs more contrast to look 3d. Maybe add another highlight shade. Or add a secondary lightsource would make it look better. Maybe some orange as a secondary light. I hope that helps.

Thank you for your comment.
I have a habit of screwing things up when trying something new, so I'll try the orange lighting when it's done.
But I want to keep it a bit sinister, I don't want it very light.
I made an update with the potential behind:

I'm having trouble with the behind a bit. If anyone has a suggestion, tell me, make a rough sketch,
help very much apreciated.

Cool lineart. nice vein on the leg. I think it would look better with black shadow for the inside of the mouth
rather than dark grey.

edit: just saw the new stuff. I thought it was a creature with just two legs. I think its better that
way.

Thanks for the comment.
I'll look into that commnet on the mouth.
Let me see....

I think it looks better, no?
I'm not sure about making him two legged...I'll need some more opinions about that before executing.

Looks nice, but I think also the head looks a bit messed up, here's a quick edit (animated) which shows what I think could be improved (not perfect by any means)

Thanks for the comment and the nice edit.
I'd agree on that looks better.

Anyone got some comment on the back? I wanna know if I can keep it like this,
so I can start colouring it and finish it.

That looks awesome! The only thing that detracts from the piece is that his head is like a circle. Could you not make his horn on the left of his head overlap that circular line? Can't really expain what i mean ... good job on fixing the legs.

That's not true. It IS true that Teej made a very nice edit witch helped me
alot, but I did not use his edit. These legs were drawn by myself, using Teej's
edit as inspiration.
(You can compare it with Teej's edit, you'll see that the actuall lines are very different)

i really like this, its pretty damn cool in my opinion. as usual, my concern is the colour. Very typical choices, no real variation. Im not saying to always change hues, but in general it looks nicer when you do. i need to stop editing peoples colours, but i find it enjoyable, if you take offense...just tell me and i will remove them. im just giving an example thats all. I just played with the colours, i didnt change anything about the piece other than the white outline.

whether or not you understand what im saying, i dont know. I hope these colours can show you that you can accomplish more variety with different colours. Widen your colour pallette and play around, no harm can come of it.

To me, the head doesn't really look attached to the body. I feel like there should be a neck, or hint of a neck, or those little bumps created by the spine up the back. Iunno, simply an idea.

An' I'm with clr on the colour changing.
