muchly inspired by helm and eve, though i tried to stay away from the triangular slices as much as possible, and pushed by ptoing to go c64, this is the result.

I like it a lot. Very Chuck Close but really nicely done and gives me the feeling of shock, paranoia.

Only thing is that some of the nonblock shapes are a bit wonky looking, the brow and such. As soon as you think it's done i will upload it to the csdb.

Very very nice. I don't get how it works though, I'm not a c64 enthusiast like some people, but how do you mix the blocks with line drawing?

the blocks and linedrawing mix has nothing to do with c64 in itself. in this mode you have a 2 colour per 8x8 tile restriction and the 16 colour c64 palette. that is all

yes, using boxes like that was my own choice

ptoing: yeah, i'm not that happy with them either. at first the idea was to dissolve anything, but that didn't quite work out, so the boxes basically just make up a stylish accessory. it's a bastard piece

damn, I remembered the phrase "cellar door" had some significance, and just seeing it used as such made me have to look it up on wikipedia to help remind me. Nice going.


Anyway, beautiful words aside, I like the piece, but I wish people would stop trying to restrict themselves with that one small palette. Create your own restrictive palette that fits the image better, instead of some old-school, eye-burning palette.

That is not the point, it is made in c64 restrictions and it is displayable on a c64 like this, also calling the c64 palette eye-burning almost warrants a ban
