didn't use any ref, but i know i should've...
should be GBA style, dunno if i got it right...stupid outline...
and my AA sucks, mostly because i'm just AAing of my own accord, and this is my first AA'd sprite...
is the stance ok?yes? no? maybe?

edits, crits, insults, praises, bashes, all are welcome here...=P

The proportions are rather skewwy. I did a very fast edit to show you roughly what I'd change:



Upped the contrast, axed one of the skin shades, combined the two darkest colors, added some simple hue variation to the skin(yellow for the highlights, red for the shadows).
Added some slight shading to the hair.
Shortened the outer arm, shrank both the fists, lengthened the legs quite a bit and biggified the feet.
Tried to define the biggest muscle groups. (Still working on my own anatomy, so I wouldn't trust me too far with this part)
Simplified the pants a bunch and added a few wrinkles.
Diddled with the outlines a bit, they're lighter on the lightsource side now.
Pushed the hips forward a little and pulled his left foot out slightly, trying to get his center of gravity centered.

This monitor is a bit fuzzy and so really bad for pixel-art, so I wouldn't suggest looking too closely at what I've done, just trying to help steer you in the right direction.

thanks, Pawige, i'll be able to study that edit of yours, and i'm beginning to understand the wisdom of some of your edits.
problem is, that's looking like an all new sprite...

i don't think fei long's pants look like that, , but i do like how you've shaded them. and should his feet be that flat? i had his stance in mind when i made the feet (on toes, jumpjump, on toes)...
there's still a long way for me to go especially anatomy-wise. i made a higher-contrasted version with some anatomical edits, but MSPaint is being an ass and won't save anything.
and as for color conservation...i already removed two colors, it was 11 colors before... ah, i have much to learn. edits in a moment, guys...

while pawiges edit is a great improvement, it still doesnt look much like fei long to me, just more like a generic fighter  :-\
heres his idle stance from super street fighter II (too many variations :s)
main differences are positioning of his hands, legs etc
I just did a quick edit of pawiges edit to show:


and theres nothing wrong with your sprite looking very different after editing it ;)

and for future reference please dont link to any website in your sprite, because clicking to enlarge it is very annoying when a site pops up everytime  :P

Oh, ha. Never heard of Fei Long before, which probably explains why it didn't really look like him.
