No, Flash is horribly ill suited to game making, I'm using Multimedia Fusion 2.

The hud isn't finalized, eventually it will all take up no more vertical room than then the life meter.

I really like the style, almost 3D, reminds me of the DS for some reason. Great work. And yes, the HUD text is much to big.. but overall very eye-pleasing.

I don't really like making games in flash. Flash is ideal for movies/films.

Looks cluttered and i'm having mad depth perception problems, try to desaturate and or darken background layers

Ack, forgot my comments. The colors look good and the tiles look nice too. It would look better if the thick outline is thinner.

actually you'd want to desaturate and lighten the background, that would give more depth perseption

I think the background could be lightened. The tile saturation is fine. I'd leave it there. Make sure the lines are smooth. Smoothen them out, or they look much like drawings for concept art.

hey

I quite like the style of this, and I also strongly agree with Zolthorg!

BTW, I'm no expert... but I do think it would be more suited to actually darken the background (sorry Zach). It's just that I think it's meant to be nightfall, with the blue fading into the purple, far in the background :). But maybe this is a miss-conception of my own to darken due to it being nightfall?

Sorry for being off topic but this is wrong, flash is an ideal way of making 2D games. Check out games like Heli Attack 3, Sylvaniah, Death in Sakkara etc etc... and you'll now that flash is GREAT tool.

Point taken, but its a non-issue anyway, I'm using Multimedia Fusion 2 regardless of Flash's suitability.

And to whoever mentioned it looks too much like a drawing, thats the point ;P
