Pixelart for a RPG game

Hi there! I'm a pixelart- beginner but I already learned a few things from a friend. It is a chipset for a RPG project. So I hope some of you can help me to get better...

Wow, those look good.

A few crits on the tablecloth.

1. It doesn't seem to have any shading when it goes over the table making it look very flat.
2. Symetry? Break the symetry (maybe by doing what is said in point 4.
3. Perhaps show it is elevated by adding a little shadow on the table.
4 A tablecloth is rarely completely flat. make it look like it has a few creases in it.
5. Light... The pattern is only just darker than the actual cloth making it seem like bad shading.
6. Put some colour in it man (or woman). It is very grey and boring at the moment whereas a lot of the opther stuff has some brilliant colours, get rid of the grey and make it pop more rather than seem like an odd texture over the table.
7. Outline at the moment it seems like the outline is dithered into the table making it seem even worse. I would consider adding a darker colour.

I like it a lot. I think the palette works together pretty well for the most part.
I just have a few crits for you. The could use a bit more attention to perspective, right now it looks almost like its laying down. Maybe try having some branches pointed toward the "camera. It also looks kind of strange that it all seems to bend in a ) kind of shape.
Also a smaller issue, the blankets on the bed look very round. I think that would look good if you had a character in them, but right now it kind of looks like someone built a blanket fort or stuffed a bunch of pillows in there. I think if you just square off the corners more and flatten out the light on top it would look fine.
I could probably point out some other issues but overall it looks pretty good, I like the feel of it.

Thank you very much for the extensive help and positive feedback! I have improved some things like the bed, door and some other stuff. There are also new things... I hope the tablecloth is better now...





Now I need help with the tree. It's very hard to create a good one. Can anyone help me please?

Hi man, really nice looking tiles ! A few critiques though.

I don't really like those woodden stools, maybe you should try to make it one or two pixels taller because it doesn't looks like you can sit on them.
I don't know what you represented with that tree and that brick wall, is it like a hole in the ground with a tree and grass in it ? Seems kinda strange for the inside of a house ^^
Oh and that tablecloth look good for me

Is the leafage giving you problems for the tree ? If it is, this is a step by step tree from lesforges(french pixel art/game making website)

I'm liking the set, but I think the old tablecloth is better. The new one is mildly horrifying to me on first glance. I keep on thinking it's something like this, rather than a tablecloth. X'D

Also does anyone else see a crazy face in that bookshelf?

The update is good, I think with the carpets and tablecloth you could get away with a much simpler and bigger pattern. It would make it a lot less distracting but also the house seems to be a pretty modest style cabin. The carpets and tablecloth look really fancy in comparison. Something like an artisan carpet seems like it would be really expensive for someone who is sitting on stumps at the dinner table.

Yes.. It's a crazy idea but I like it. I remember "The Legend of Zelda - Twilight Princess" where Agitha had a tree in her house... So nothing is impossible

I tried to give the tree just some single leaves not a whole leafage...

Hmm.. I won't change the carpets now... (most of the fancy carpets are made of poor people in reality ah?) But maybe the tablecloth and the stumps could get an improvement!?

This looks nice and has lots of potential. Despite many differences, it vaguely reminds me of Darkmere:

However, to me it is very difficult to read the perspective, due to the similarity in hues, pattern and brightness of floors and walls. This extra-sloppy color edit shows what I mean by just lowering a bit the brightness of the floors (thus increasing the contrast with the walls):


(EDIT: just realized I forgot to touch up that corner at the bottom, but anyways... )

(Also, notice how in Darkmere the problem has been solved by using totally different materials.)

I agree with you that it's okay to have the tree in the house. I'd explain why it's there in the game, though! =)

It's impressive how much just making the floor a bit darker changes things, though. Much more readable with a quick glance this way!
