C&C on sprites

Howdy, everyone!

I'm a bit new to pixel art, but I'm already enjoying it. I'm mostly a programmer and not an artist, but it has mostly came to the point where I'm obligated to learn how to pixel art instead of relying on others. Anyways, this is just a WIP of some sprites I drew for my game. They are retro(or at least it's suppose to be), box-head soldiers. Feedback and critique is much appreciated.

looks better without the banded line under the mouth, but what I can only interpret as an attempt at camo pants doesn't work so well

messed around with them, the arms look really strange as are, probably broke away from the square nature a bit much with some of these
