The old animation that i'm changing like i did on the first two sprites[the first one is the revamped one of course]

It's nice but in some things the new one is worse. That new texture on the sprite looks a bit strange.
About the portrait, I recommend you thiner folds on the clothes and I think you also need to improve with the color choice.

I played with it for a bit, this is what I made:
