Awesome, just awesome :y:

On the sneezing part, his eyes look like they are still facing straight at the viewer when they should be looking down since his head is bent over. The eye slits should be curved up like a smiley face not down. Finding some reference would probably be necessary.

That hair or whatever it is on his head seems completely different between the two.
I must say though, your pallet on the second is fantastic!
Art gives me a joy that nothing else can.

the alternate one is fantastic, sore really psychedelic mucus you've got going on there.

evileye: yeah, had 'em like that in an earlier version, then screwed 'em up trying to get the expression down right. better now, maybe.

ambient: the hair stuff reacts to the sneeze the same as the muscles of the face. they're sort of abstract representations of the themes of 'tension' and 'release'.

stratto/ ||||: not sure which pair I prefer myself. the psychedelic colors of the blue one are neat but the red pair might read better.

Cure, you're amazing. It's always a great deal to take in when you post more artwork, I tend to stare at it for quite a while.

I think the comment on the hair may be referring to Ah, where his hair is covering all of the top of his head, as opposed to Chu, who has hair only in minuscule areas.

Really I can't think of much else to say... I think I could learn more from this art than I could pick away details of it for a critique

I tried an edit of the eyes based on some pics of people sneezing.

Thanks for the edit, helped a lot I think:

still gotta make a frame for the blue guy, as well as a cleanup on the ground around them, fix the overly-symmetrical parts of the current frame, and finish pushing a few pixels around on blue guy's face

I definitely like the psychedelic blue one better ;) Such exceptional work begs the question; what's it for?

More squinting for the sneezing blue guy. Like Evileye's edit or your old version. Love the palettes and general pixel work  :y:

The frame looks great but, the right nostril in the purple guy look like it's sneezing out mor the the left and it seem like they should be equal. The frame looks good when it is symmetrical, gives it a photo-like appearance. Maybe put a red frame around the purple guy as you put a purple frame around the red guy?
Pixel Art, what (mostly) all of us are here for.

Not that I really dare crit your stuff lol but I did a tiny tiny edit just to screw up the face a bit more to try to match the intensity.

I appreciate your daring, nice edit. I'll take a closer look at it as well as evileye's before my next update.
Apologies for the delay in updating, I've been bogged down by painting and printmaking assignments. I'll return to this shortly.

@Lazybrain: Not for anything really. The concept is something I'm developing for my prints, this was made to explore the idea before I put it on a plate. And to pixel for pixelling's sake.

Print plates r cool! I haven't done that since high school ^,^
Now I underestand the border.
Are you studying art in college or something?

do what . . ?

Not understanding this project at all. What is the link all about? It's totally different. Full of ambiguous symbology.

ah: tension, resistance
choo: release, submission/surrender

top corners: tension in birth, release in death. It should make more sense in the context of the series the print will ideally be viewed in, in which the newborn's wail and the last breath are contrasted as more sensible visual examples of tension and release. I felt they emphasized the cyclic nature of tension/release well enough as-is, though.
rest of the symbols should be self-explanatory

thanks. project is finished by the way:

thanks for the feedback/crits, working on other tension/release themed stuff now. won't have time to work more on mosquito/moth thing (and other bigger pixel projects) for a while due to school though.
