Alien Transport Ship [WIP] :Update 2:

Back into the spriting for the game I'm working on, this is an almost "boss" ship. It has to have banking animations  :'(, which are coming. First I'd like to know what you think of it:

Changed the tail of it, I didn't like it at all, and defined the shadows a little more around the tail.

17 colours I believe it is, including transparency.

Update 2

Started doing damage models for it, these are fun  ;). Added another colour.

sideways lightsource... not sure it makes sense in a vertical shooter. Go for overhead ambient so it's common on all the elements on the screen. That's what everybody else does in the industry.

Hmmmmm. Might be too late for that, I've already done alot of work with this lightsource in the game, and so far I've managed to keep the shading consistent for everything with no headaches. But thanks for the heads up.

Your ship design is cool, but the color balance needs work. The ship's cockpit-like thing and the blue things on the wings stand out...*alot* Sometimes it helps to make your sprites inside a mockup to see how they match their environment. Try desaturing the blue and green a bit.

The damage frames arereally good; it has a nice destroyed feeling, and quite a bit of stages too. Well done.

I have to agree with Helm on the lightsource, but being that I haven't seen your game in action I can't really judge. From the looks of your rocks and debris in your other thread, the side lighting can't be that bad ^_^

That's what was on my mind when I was looking at it, Dhaos. The greens are being using on alot of other enemies. I haven't gotten around to making the environment this is in yet, but it'll be a red-ish desert canyon.

Pretty cool.

The colors look too...i don't know...amateur-ish?  Too much like the stereotypical definition of "alien".  Try fiddling around with different hues.

Also, for some reason, it's harder to see a lightsource and form on this ship than the hero ship.  I'm digging the sideways lightsource, though.
