Deformed happiness

on: December 11, 2010, 12:01:56 pm

It's a person with a deformed right side of his face that cannot show expression but he is happy so his left is showing the expression and so you get a mixture of sadness and happiness on the same face. Or that's what I was trying to convey. I'm not too sure if his left side looks happy.

I think there is a fundamental problem trying to express two emotions on a face by dividing it into left and right halves. Our minds look at the entire picture, and if each side of someones face is doing something different, then it looks strange and creepy. There's also lots of construction problems. Draw it in a few grey shades, then flip it back and forth to be able to spot the problems.

I know this is going to sound like an excuse but surely the strangeness and creepiness suits this picture?

Also I'm not really that advanced as a pixel artist, I don't know the terms. What do you mean by construction problems?

I've left it a while so bump, I want this to look as good as I possibly make it.
