Working on this monster frog boss, but can't quite seem to get it right. help me out? Shading is supposed to be minimal, and some parts are more finished than others.

You say frog, I think platypus. I think it's the dark lips and how they paunch out a tad that makes me think duck bill. Not really sure though. Anyone else seeing more of a duck than a frog here?

I think it looks really really nice, but if you aren't on any palette restrictions, another shade for aa particularly on his left arm, would really help.

Shading is supposed to be minimal
If your going to do some kind of cell shading, anime style then you need to define your volumes a lot better. For instance his belly looks very flat and is made flatter by the vest thing
which does not follow any round contour at all. You need better lines the less shading you do to make up for the lack of definition. Measuring is key, you're doing this at the pixel level so it is not hard to just check and see how far down the y axis the top of one eye is and make sure the other eye is at the same level ( for example ).
Not exactly minimal shading, but here is my take on it:
Also check out Cure's excellent thread for some other examples in case you haven't already:

Thank you very much! I see what you mean, and I love your take on it, it feels more frog like. Here is the latest version (still messy) with your suggestions added:

He looks really cool! The warts are a great addition
Maybe just try to give the warts some 3D?
It would be funny if he animated with a big sack blow out from his throat lol
