Making RPG Tilesets

on: August 22, 2010, 06:13:22 am
So I'm making this tileset for a game.

Now if my eyes can see correctly it would seem that the tree is 'flat'. I mean it's like it'slying in the ground instead of being a seperate entity than the floor.
How would I make it seem to pop out more. advice pls?  :)

One way you can make it pop out more is by outlining the tree. Another way (which adds even more separation) is to use darker colors on the floor tiles. The main problem here is contrast in overall. Not enough separation between colors. I suggest you play with the palette and adjust the numbers.
Looking at snes rpg graphics (mainly the dragon quest 6 / Romancing Saga 3) are good references when making tilesets.
