This is a beholder from the MMORPG Tibia.
I am a begginer and this is my first upload.

as i said over at pj, it'd be easiest for you to just resize it to at least half the current size then start reworking, this size doesn't really allow you to give the proper care and attention to the individual pixels (or at least, it'd take way to much work to do so and isn't advisable for a beginner). once it's resized, pick a light source (can't tell where the light is coming from in yours) and use this light source when deciding where to place shadows and highlights.

Yeah the size is too big, I myself have tried doing a piece 320x240 (not saying yours is that size) size range, and it took me a lot more work since the areas are too big. I say 100x100-120x120 would be fine to resize it to and work from there. Now, as far as the shading goes, the problem I see is that there is no definite light source. Like in the eyelid it's shaded darker, when it should have no shading.
