rpg sprites and palette help

on: June 07, 2010, 08:24:21 am
hey guys. i could really use your help and advice on this:

as of now i'm very happy with the direction that i'm going with the sprite template—i like the style that i've settled into for these guys (though of course there's plenty of room for improvement).

unfortunately i don't think it looks nearly as nice on the clothed sprites—i think that the palette's one of the big problems here. i've spent the last few hours fiddling with it but can't quite settle into something i'm too happy with.

advice would be appreciated. :)

Okay, here is my personal opinon and critique:
Legs are too spread out.
The legs and pelvis seem detached becasue of the heavy lines between them.
The sprites look puffy, causing them to look like dolls.
The head looks like it's being viewed somewhat from above, while the body looks like it's being viewed directly from the front.
The clothes seem blurry and lack contrast. It might look better if it was sharper and less blurry.

(Sorry if it's harsh at all, but what are critics for? ;) )
