16x16 Castle Tiles

on: April 25, 2010, 05:56:40 am

Mostly done, but I'm interested to hear what people think.  The complete set is available here:

http://opengameart.org/content/16x16-castle-tiles

... under the terms of the GPL or CC-BY-SA.  The grass tile is lifted from a 16x16 town tileset by Surt, in accordance with the license on that set, which can be found here:

All the rest of the tiles are mine. :)

Free, legal art and audio for free/open source game projects.

I think it's too noisy, esp the grass.
Also the walls look paper-thin. Castle walls are supposed to be massive.
Needs some cast shadows too, both on the walls and grass (no idea how to do that with tiles).

Why ask for advice and upload to PJ without waiting for answers? Way of wasting pples time.

i think you need to work on your colors because right now the grass stands out more than the castle, it's weird. Surt's colors work better, maybe you could use his.

and yeah, please make those walls a lot thicker

No wait, I don't see the issue with giving feedback on a finished piece? I can understand how it makes you feel uncertain whether your critique will be taken to heart or not, but it's not taboo in any way, you know ' 3 '
