Mauldin-esque

on: March 17, 2009, 12:31:36 am
Tried to go for a Bill Mauldin wartime look -

I might do more, gotta work up some dry humor.
"How good a shot are the Krauts?" "Good enough to keep our heads down, that's for sure."

This is my first time posting, so go easy on me if it doesn't display right.
C&C always welcome.

This might use som AA, to smoothen up the jagged curves, that's the only thing I could think of for now. Good luck!

To me, it just seems as if you're doing thick line art. You may think just because it's white and black and a little rough, it looks like Bill's work, but from what I can see from the example you posted, it doesn't. What I see is him conveying lines, shadow, texture, etc. through the use of just 2 colors. Try looking at the helmets between the 2 pictures for a good comparison. It's a good start, though.
