KS screen

on: September 26, 2016, 10:28:02 am
Hello! So I started working on a splash screen to show up at the end of our kickstarter trailer and it looks like this:

So obviously the idea is to make this look as good as possible. The hair dryer will explode on the right but I want to make sure the dragon ball power reader is recognizable at a glance at the moment.

So this needs to be pretty much flawless as it ends the trailer with a bang so to speak.

Rip it apart!  :y:

I thought it was its eye. Painting it green would make it stand more and adding the other parts could help at reading it as a scouter

I just thought it was a button or some other random detail on the fan, I didn't notice it as an eye or the reader at all. I agree with Curly about making it green. You could also make it larger so that it's clearer that it's not part of the fan.

If you want strong effect you should remove some of the frames, cause it slows everything down and remove impact.

Here's the suggestion:

I wasn't getting the notifications that I had received replies unfortunately.

Is the scouter more readable now?

Yeah, I think it's readable enough. The 9000 helps too
I also think that you could add impact by removing some frames.

Ok, I'll be removing a few frames then. Always breaks my heart to do so  :'(.

That bounce after hitting the ground doesn't help it just makes it look strange. Dust shouldn't disappear so fast in the stage where there's big amount of it, give it some disappearing effect which still keeps the momentum, you still have plenty of frames for that.

If you already want to get DB effect maybe you should check how they did it.

I think something that makes this animation feel less impactful, which I've also notice in some of your other animations, is that your animations feel very sequential.
Basically, it seems to me like all the actions your characters perform are right behind each other, not often are there two or more things happening at the same time. Here I see it like this:
1.First Pan starts floating
2.His arms and legs go into position
3.He slams to the ground
4.dust clouds rise up
5.The fire effect happens
6.He screams(also very sequential on its own, his head goes up and then he opens his mouth)

Especially not allowing to happen 3, 4 and 5 is really jarring to me, and even only allowing these things to happen at the same time would heavily improve the animation imo.
In all your animations I can see you're very dedicated to them and put your all into all of them, but I think they would be improved a ton if animations were less sequential.

I hope this helps a bit!

Edit:
Now that I've seen the reference material, I understand why you made certain parts of the animation sequential like that, whoops :p.
However, I still think that in general trying to make the animations less sequential might improve them a lot
