Color practice.

on: November 26, 2005, 01:26:18 am

Ok, I just recolored one of my old pieces, and came up with this. I had a huge influence from helm, all of you posts on color are really inspiring man, sorry if this pallete seems too close to yours, it wasnt my intention to copy so much as find a place to start on my own style. Hope your alright with it.

Anyways...vote for indigo and give me your best crits!

I'm always a fan of hue shifts, but the eyes have to either be: A. Darker, or B. Have eyeballs.

And maybe use the darkest shade to AA that mouth just a touch.  The black is a bit harsh.

Forgot to compliment anything on it, how silly of me, but I like what you've done with the hair.  I've always liked when pixels have a certain 'direction' to them.

Yeah, I think it looks kinda nice. Seems like you got the hang of the technique, basically. The thing is, these look a little too much like old computer ega/vga graphics. The hues of all the colors stray a little too much from the original color I'd say: the hue shifts are too strong. If you make them just a little more like the original colors it might look more realistic. Maybe it's the contrast though.

Also, I don't like that the mouth is only one pixel wide, and black. Maybe make it a little lighter, and use some AA or something. Also, I think the area directly over the eyes is too white. Maybe use a little AA between that area and the eyes.

The picture is nice, but I think that you can mae it nicer.
