New Style: Two Dimension Squared

on: December 24, 2015, 01:43:25 am
I'm dubbing this new style 2D2. I haven't seen anything like this done with Pixel Art yet and it will be the new graphics style for my up-coming game. Here's a bit of concept art. Please let me know what you think; thank you!

Edit: There we go.

Here's another piece I've been working on with the same style:

Here is an edit. This  shows how less can be more. Also, It might not fit your style, but this is just how I would draw it. And I did this on my iPod so the image is probably gonna be huge cause I have to save it big or it will be blurry.

Ps, I hope this works.

Excuse me if this comes across as brusque but I honestly have no idea what your "new style" is.  What's going on in the sprites?

hey hey, glad to see a new pixel adventurer

these are nice sprites for a beginner :)

i just want to ask why you feel this is a new style?  it looks like ordinary pixel art to me, although with some beginner tendencies (i dont call them errors per se) such as too many useless colors

The new style isn't in the "art" per se, but as how I've constructed the art with the overlapping of Pixel Layers to achieve a greater sense of depth. I will be experimenting a lot with this.

you mean the gradients?  lots of pixel art today does such :) it's everywhere!  it's also a common beginner thing to do, until after they discover thinking in terms of clusters of pixels actually yield much much more depth and control

I edited and adjusted the saturation of the front layers. This looks much better now.
