Brand new, looking for advice on eyes

This is my first try at pixel art, did a self portrait, looking for help on the eyes, everything I do seems to look horrible.  Thanks in advance for any tips!

Hey Wayrath,

This is my first post but I have been lurking on the forums for a few weeks now. I noticed your post has been up for a few days and no one is giving you any critiques. The reason for that is that there is nothing to critique, you asked for help on the eyes but you didn't draw in any. Post another image with your attempt at drawing the eyes and I think the community will chime in and give you some pointers. Hope this helps and good luck.
