Pixel Art / Re: Wizard
« on: January 26, 2013, 02:49:02 pm »
Your wizard is not bad, you already applied neccessary techniques!

What is looking odd, though, is the hueshifting and the palette usage depending on how your determined your colors... and at some spots it isnt shaded properly so it looks very WIPish

To comment your impatience, I highly suggest you to let go of that attitude, when it comes to pixelart, you need a lot of patience, so there is no "i wanna be best asap". Saying that, I want to warn you from very frustrating upcomming times if you keep it like this :P...

Also, don't see the whole thing as a challenge like "best guy around"... capability is what matters, workflow, maintaining motivation and flexibility (if you really plan on going into the industry)

General Discussion / Re: Rendering 2d (pixel) sprites in a 3d world

I think the newest Pokemon X and Y games fit in this thread really well... they really did well with how the pokemons appear...they look pixeled, yet they are modeled, im astonished somehow

My first critique is, be more open for critique, don't limit yourself to a selection of factors that just prevent you from evolving

Secondly, don't save them as PNG24, thats way too heavy and not really neccessary, you can save 200% filesize if you save it properly...

And most importantly, my valued critique towards your hats: what the guys above said.

Why do you choose pixel art as a medium?

because people like us are insane :P!

what is required though, are the guts to finish what you started... and thats what philippe is learning currently... but hes starting too many new pieces... to get a full vision of his detail it needs more time so he actually can stamp them as "Done"

Very awesome depth created with the sky, would even go further and bring more perspective in it

Somehow the whole thing reminds me of Lion King xD
Colors are nice too

The tree seems to be a little too outlined

Unpaid Work / Re: SickMafia presents...Pokemon: Dawn of Darkness

SickBaley is a very nice person and he works eagerly, although I could point out a few deficits among the existing team he currently has which prevented me from deciding to help him develop on his game!

Success is most likely guaranteed (courtstuff not included)

I played PDoD myself for some time and it has potential, even though its main aspects currently lie in PvP and Trading.

Looking forward to this being finalized and optimized :)

Best regards,
Elk

All you need to know is feel the reference's model if you wish to create a similar result...

I just noticed you had created a topic about a golem, and it doesn't contain a finished result!

Regardless of your freedom to create whatever you want and whenever you want, I encorage you to finish the golem or whatever piece you had worked on before to prevent you from entering the typical very common bad habit we artists tend to get, WIP-sickness! Finish piece by piece, else you'll end up with 10000 WIP's in some years
