Pixel Art / Re: "The Koemushi Template", an RPG sprite template

I'd try taking a look at some references. In a real walk, you won't see a frame where both feet are flat on the ground. This is making your animation look like the feet are being shuffled along the ground.

Pixel Art / Re: pixel vs vector
« on: January 07, 2010, 04:53:18 pm »
This is like the 5th jpg you've posted(after several other people mentioning it). A JPG is useless on this board. People will not do a serious critique on a jpg. It's impossible to tell what was hand pixelled on a jpg because of the bleed and artifacts. Pixel art just looks ugly inside of a jpg.

And like Gil was saying about hte multiple posts. There's a limited amount of space on the first page of the board. If you've already got one thread on the firstpage then make a new post on that thread instead of starting a new one.

And tbh, if the clarity was working properly, I think the pixel and vector art would clash violently. The vector side has a different shading stylization on bigger things. Proportionally the two sides are different. The vector is inevitably going to make your side look more primitive because it's going to be smoothly shaded and AAed

Pixel Art / Re: [WIP] Dwarf Cave

The swing is really nice. I like how you handled the frames on the blur. What's missing from it is a sense of weight. I think this is mainly because there aren't any slow-ins or slow-outs when the swing changes direction or reaches the max position in the current direction.

I find it a little strange how straight and angular the natural part of the cave is in your mockup. It's understandable in the floor because that is obviously polished by the dwarf people, but the straight line of stalctites(?) along the ceiling seems a bit off. The base of the stalctite tile is also a bit repetitive.. I notice you have another flat bottomed ceiling tile that could probably be edited and used to give the stalactite base some variation.

Also, I don't know what program you use to save your images, but graphics gale can't load moving png images and even has trouble with your non moving png images. I'm sending an email off to them to get that fixed, but thought you might like to know. There's a fair number of GG users and that could be hurting your chances of getting an edit. I think some browsers don't even support moving png images either.

Anyone know when the version of firefox with the new rendering engine is supposed to come out? I saw a webpage saying 3.6 comes out this month. That would be pretty awesome if that was the version that finally adds optional filtering support

EDIT: tried downloading hte 3.6 beta. It's very polished, my addons work and the filtering iis disabled after following the instructions somebody posted on pixeljoint. Yay! no filtering!

I can't wait till they get them in colour. Should be perfect for my college texts. All I could think about while reading my intro to architecture text was how cool it would be to be reading it on a dual screen e reader with one screen for text and the other for pictures. Clicking a word would bring up a small text box with the definition. Clicking any text would also bring up relevant pictures on the alternate screen to go with the material, all of it in glorious colour now that there's no economic penalty for displaying all colour pics. And not only would there be colour pics, but shitloads of pictures, too, from all kinds of angles.

Let me just say, if you break the contractual agreement, they come for you.  You think they don't, but they do...  :ouch:
Yes. Beware.

I don't think I have to tell you how awkward it is to step out of the shower and find a tall man with portable laptop staring disaprovingly at your package.

And he just keeps saying "Do it."  :'(

Well I did it, now will somebody tell this man to get the hell out of my bathroom!

General Discussion / Re: Eyecraft is a mod!

When I was looking at this topic from the list I thought it said everyone. Therefore, I am disappointed to learn that the awesome mod powers of myself and all others have been revoked and given to this Eyecraft fellow, instead. >:(

I'm sure he did something worthwhile to earn them.

I made a GM logo for a game I was making once upon a time.

They started off with a nice enough logo. If they wanted something more modern they could've just added lens flare and called it a day. On the other hand, I think this new logo proved my observation that the GM community was useless and at most 13 years old.

I know most of you guys might not be into fps stuff but holy shit I need this thing like NOW!

I could see some interesting [mis?]use in some of those Japanese sim games. Nipple Twist Simulator EXTREME Edition?

It think it would be helpful to look up some references for that kind of architecture. I believe a series of arches supported by columns is called an arcade, so I did some googling and ended up with this wiki full of interesting drawings from a french book on architecture.
http://en.wikisource.org/wiki/Dictionary_of_French_Architecture_from_the_11th_to_16th_Century/Volume_1/Blind_Arcade?match=fr

Columns can have plenty of interesting styles. A good picture reference here on the classical orders

There's a picture of the Santa Sabina here, whch uses composite order columns to support the arches.
