I made everything more colorful and tried to darken the background a bit more, also I added some tiles that have a red light thing on them instead of a greenish one. I still need to do the player sprite.

The lighter brown (solid color) tiles are placeholders, I haven't decided what kind of tile I want to put there yet. Haven't started on the character or enemies yet. The Generic Spikes of Doom are likely to be replaced with some sort of fiery thing, and the door will probably be re-done. I mainly need crit on the basic background/foreground tiles.

oomerta, if the link does not end in a file extension like, for example, .png or .bmp, it won't work in img tags.

update. increased both brightness and contrast, made everything less pointlessly detailed(sort of).

edit:oh, the thing in the middle was originally tacked on as a last-thought type thing without any idea of what it was supposed to be. it is now a cockpit, yeah.

edit junior: boy i am forgetful. yes the brown parts ARE wood.

I was bored so i made this thing.

It probably could use better colours, but is there anything else that needs work? It's meant to be a player ship in an arena-style shooter.

Why have a blob when you can have... A FACE!

You don't always need a gradient for colors, dark shades can be next to bright shades. (See: nose.)

well, i will try to use what you did with the face, but i don't care for any of the other changes.
