Is he wearing gloves? And are those gloves the same color as his pants? If so, I think that is what's causing the readability issue.

The smaller rock is too noisy/trafficy. I say go with the bigger rock ,but take PypeBros' advice and shade them to give them more volume and dimension. Right now the pixel clusters are too large and undisturbed to be interesting.

It needs texture and depth: after all it IS a giant, solid rock carving.

Make sure to ground the piece. Paint the walls around it and the floor to show the viewer exactly what it is.

Don't be afraid to use your darks in patches, and to drape portions in complete shadow -- it's supposed to be a dark and murky place, after all.

I think dithering is your best bet with this piece -- it needs texture to really define it as rock.

I feel that the greys, as they are right now, do not have enough noticeable presence in the piece to be considered useful; I suggest killing the lighter grey altogether and using the darker grey to get nice crisp shading.

I agree with Anarkhya, letting us see your reference picture will help us see what you are aiming for.

All I can say right now it that you need to thin out the legs a little, and shorten the length of the thighs.

The stance definitely looks more natural, kudos :)

As for the SW stance: try pulling the shadow over his entire crotch area, and turn his left foot so it's pointing a little more towards the viewer. It looks like his backpack is getting clipped off, is that the case or are the pixels just lining up? And try distinguishing the line between his left arm and his body, because right now they're blending together.

Make sure to line up the tips of the arrows with the rest.

Try breaking the monochromatic effect you have going on -- maybe use some yellows and/or oranges instead of those lighter blues.

In the SW-facing stance, his left leg (his left, not ours) needs to be moved a little to our right wher it meets the pelvis-- right now it appears to be covering the other leg and giving him a more twisted stance.
His stance is very wide, even for an 'action' stance.

Also take note that people rarely stand with their feet parallel to each other. They usually point away slightly.

Make him step into the punch -- just pay attention to the center of gravity and dont be afraid to let him turn a little when in action.
