Pixel Art / Re: Outback ozzie zoot suit
« on: December 28, 2009, 11:25:30 am »
Added a bicep knife, which irritates me because it looks like it has too much depth in comparison to the rest of the piece, but I can't work out how to shade it.

Pixel Art / Present improvement
« on: December 28, 2009, 11:11:56 am »
Well I have to say I feel really ashamed at the present I gave my person and I want to improve it for them especially seeing as what Elk made their Santee.

So yeah I would love all Constructive Criticism and critique top help improve this piece for Elk.

I already started by trying to fix a few perspective issues.

ps the train was initially meant top be steampunkish but I don't really understand the genre.

All these are absolutely amazing they are all really dynamic and fun to look at!

... then there is the one I gave. Sorry Elk. :(

I loved mine overkill, made me smile and feel really good. For me that's pretty rare. Thanks a heap!

(Looks lie when I get back from work I'll move my creation to pixel art and hopefully improve it big time, sorry again)

Wow the level of epicness just doubled, and these were already pretty Epic. The new APGN's look sweet. What program are you using for the APNG's? I'm sick of using Jasc animation shop still.

I like the new rotors, they look smaller and don't lap the character much but I find them more distinguishable. Good job.  :y:

15 people still have not submitted anything.

But since I am nice I gave them another chance by extending the deadline (see news box).
This means that the unwrapping will be sometime tomorrow evening (GMT+1)

I PMed the guilty parties and hope at least some of them will man up and do the right thing.

by the looks of it about half way through today we get to unwrap our pressies.

Oh yeah and I may not celebrate but to all that competed:

(shame the gif quality)

Okay I want to say how simply amazing this is!

for the bug bot I'd suggest making the wings thinner but longer. This should then improve the readability, not to mention it usually gives off a false perseptions that te blades spin faster. (due to the fact that the outer circle of the blades have a father distance to travel in the same period of time.

A for the firing, I think it would be better off with some sort of mini gun or another mini-projectile that doesn't have such a large single shot recoil. (that woul make keeping flight rather difficult.)

Plus the variety of weaponry will make the enemies more unique.

Ok so you got a spider and bee/wasp. Now if only you had a centipede. ;D

Seriously though keep up the good work.

I personally don't mind waiting, though, thn again I don't actually celebrate Christmas so yeah.

Either way I hope those people get their presents in on time for the people that did put in a lot of effort. :(

Pixel Art / Outback ozzie zoot suit
« on: December 24, 2009, 11:26:46 am »
G'day. Well the title should probably give you an idea of what I'm aiming at but else wise I'm trying to make a zoot suit in an Australian outback look. (similar to what you'd see in the cr0c dundee movies)

Anyway to the point:

So far I've only really completed the hat and the leather suit jacket. (although the hat has a bit of an issue at the bottom right that I need to fix and only just noticed.

I did some studies on leather so I think I got the gist of it but ain't certain. (also cheated and used some random as heck dithering every now and again, hope it doesn't show to much)

All C&C welcome.

Also be as harsh as you want/can as criticism is the best way to learn.

I included the colour pallet separate so far.

PS I haven't done the shoes or set up the base of the pants yet either, but not sure if I should or not.

EDIT:

Changed the colour pallet in hope it might stop the jacket looking so much like rock, and more like the actual leather it's meant to be.

Better or worse?

Yay I'm done, for noob quality anyway. Can't wait to see the posts of my Secret Santee. -_-
@Ray- I started thinking the same too after about 60hrs but in the end I liked mine, even if it's messy.
Anyway YOU CAN DO IT!
(no this is not sarcasm)

(really wish PSP had a timer that told you how long you spent on a piece, that way if you give yourself a time limit you could close the window and go off in between while keeping your time, not to mention I'd know how long I spent on pieces like this. Most people would probably find this stupid though)

Can't wait now.
