The only thing I'd change would be the purple flower.  It needs a little bit more contrast because the purple and gray seem to have similar values.

Really nice work so far, it would look great in a game!

Here's an edit to make the blade seem less dull.  I also removed one color (the gray).

Using Opera 10.6 on Windows XP and Mac OS X Snowleopard without any problems zooming using the "Max Zoom" button.  Using CTRL +/CMD + doesn't do anything for me, it still stays at 100%

It seems that during the animation there are colors that change on the tree on the left, the head on the right, and the leaves on the right.  Possibly some sort of artifacting or it's caused because you made a gif with images with more than 256 colors.

The grass and such look very nice, however the water doesn't look much like water - or anything for that matter.  Also, the trees lack form, and look too thick and have no branches, plus the leaves are not defined and the top is a bit too condensed.
