Pixel Art / Re: [DONE/WIP] (not so very) Cyberpunk-like portrait

Well, I took a break from working on this for a while but have recently decided to get back too it.
I've got what is likely the final version of the neck, started adding the shirt and played with the lower end of the hair slightly. Still have a lot to do though.

C+C Would be nice, though. Particularly on the neck as thats where I'm having the most trouble.

Though I personally would'nt worry too much on that issue, Xerus, I personally have no problem telling the different layers apart. It may become a hassle later though, so just keep an eye on it.

It looks excellent. Though in the case of the main character there, Its far too contrasted. I recommend utilizing the two shades of green a bit more - and the run animation could use some work. Its much too hard to follow and the limbs don't really move quite right. Other then that, as I said before, it looks excellent. I'm especially liking the tiles and the style.

Looks awesome - the style particularly. Though the scarf looks a bit awkwardly big compared to the character. Maybe either shorter it or make it not as thick, so it seems more natural?

Aside from that, only complaint I could have is the map appears almost identical to metroid. This may be intentional in which case ignore this, but I'm going to say that differentiating it in some way probably wouldn't be a bad idea.

Thanks guys.  That hair is excellent Alkaline, and I'll be sure to implement some of those ideas into future versions. ;D
I've taken some of the advice to heart, like raising the nose and mouth and also making the mouth a little wider. Though still dissatisfied with the nose, I've erased the jacket and nose and am starting to draw the upper torso and then redrawing the coat and shirt over it.
This is the last version on my comp with the neck and jacket.

The new version where I'm redrawing the lower half is as follows:

C+C? On either of them?

Welcome back Dogmeat! Also, during my week off, I went to go see a Metal show with The Human Abstract, 36 Crazy Fists, Trivium, and All That Remains headlining. Even though I'm not much of the metalcore or hardcore fanatic, the show was pretty damn awesome(though I felt Trivium performed the best).
All That remains are pretty good. Not amazingly fond of the other bands, though I feel The Human Abstract has amazing potential. The first 1:40 or so of 'Vela, Together We Await The Storm' is excellent. But unfortunately it all falls apart after that. ):

So what are some games you people consider 'artistic'... that are worth playing for the artistic value, even if it's not a very good game. This doesn't have to be particularly graphics-wise, either.
Personally?
Shadow of the Colossus.

SEMI-NEW - NEW:
-
Thanks for the comments, I've tried fixing the problems you've mentioned thus far - along with a few things that have been bugging me. I've cleaned up the shading a little (or so I think), changed the mouth/lips, altered the neck, and have tweaked the palette. I'm still not done though as at some point I intend on thinning down the hair slightly and fixing up the jacket.

Willows: Honestly I think the more Cyberpunk aspect or theme of it is subtle and in my own head as opposed to directly shown on the portrait itself - Its just the sort of environment that I see this character in, I view the more cyberpunk aspects of this character as being internal and environmental as opposed to external. That and the character reminds me of Motoko Kusanagi for some reason. Though on hindsight you're right, labelling it as 'Cyberpunk-like' is probably a bad idea.

Either way, I may end up adding some more design aspects to the character as the portrait goes on. Who knows.

Opinions? Further comments? I still wouldn't say I'm quite 'done' yet.

I'd have to agree with Helm on the matter - though yours is also quite nice. Also depending on the sort of person you're giving it too, Helms approach may be more flattering. If its too sexual or playful, then it could  be miscontrued and not have the sort of reaction you were hoping for.

Also my avatar.

Its technically done, though I'm still willing to edit and play around with it as to be honest it kind of bugs me because I know that things are wrong with it. I've been sorta on and off playing around with this for a few months now, so editing it even further really isn't out of the question. Thats where you guys come in. Do you see any problems with it? Anything that could use some tweaking? Opinions in general?

(should be) 15 colors + transparency.

C+C?

I meant more in relation to the body and their actual shape; that it was just a little awkward. But in the latest version its been fixed, as well as the other issues I had with it - It looks a lot better now.
