one question though... that's not top down is it?  ???
Look at the examples. That's called top-down. If you wanna be REALLY picky about perspective and want something strictly straight-above, go play GTA instead.

Hey, dang. Looks good. Nice to see you again, Xion.

Heh, who really cares that much about anatomy on a scarecrow? All I know is that he looks good. And that I prefer him without a "mouth" of any type. Actually don't mind the perfectly circular head either, but... new one looks great, still. Well done.

Ooh, a Noadi... that was a while ago...

Also, if you join the IRC channel, you can NOT talk to some awesome people, like ME!
Hell yeah.

Your avatar is also infinitely disturbing. Though that seems to be a reoccuring theme in pixel art forums, so I'm not complaining.

Call me Rox Swan. The two first letters of the first name matches my real one and the entire last name matches half my real one... in another language...

I'm from somewhere way up north. I've been into pixeling forever, but started seeing it as a real art when I found Pixelation a couple years ago.

And I share a major interest with Helm.

Sure they're good. And.. why Polarium? Try it with the... er... .. Pictochat! That's it. Sure, it's incredibly hard to be precise without zooming, but other than that, I found it works excellently. No random pixels, smooth lines and all. Just gotta remember to not draw at weird angles like I do on a paper.. makes pixels appear where I'm not expecting them...

But wait, doesn't the "real" way have to have all that stuff about seasons and things in them, too? I recall reading something about a real standard haiku or whatever has to at least hint at what season it takes place in...

Now... I just don't find that fun at all.

Pixel Art / Re: Run, ninja!

I think the problem is that he's not moving enough. Even for a ninja. As it is now, he's not even running, he's just walking randomly. If you want him to run, you need more movement. Make him bend over, tweak the timing of the frames and give him some exposiveness. Running needs explosiveness. As it is now, he has none at all, that's why he looks like he's just strutting along.

Do what I did and watch Samurai Jack! He's got plenty of explosiveness going on.
