Dennis, that's looking awesome   :y: ;D
The texture in the feathers is really working well.
working on a linoleum print for art class.

just have to map out the colors and get going. I want to go with a simple 4 or 5 color palette with garish greens and reds.

@Southend_boi:
I like your edit. It adds some nice impact.

It's usually helpful to include some information with an edit, explaining what you changed and why that's a good thing, etc.
Just saying. It's courteous to explain your work a bit.
Looking good, kriss! I'd try to make the motion a bit more specific. Either hold the sword up longer for a bigger slam down, or make it more of a sweeping blow. Every motion should have some character, and you need to decide the weight of this tool your character has. Just make sure it's the way it is for a reason, not just because that's how you happened to do it.
Great work!

It's much better, but now I'm getting the impression of soap bubbles. I'd suggest a bit less rotund qualities to it, and maybe make the smoke shoot out farther from the character.
you also may want to take another look at his arms, they're freakishly long compared to his legs. Looks like they'd go down to his knees if they were lowered.
Overall, looking very nice! Very unique, and I like the style. Great use of colors and shading.

Before I make any other comments, let me ask you: Are you working with a limited palette or other restrictions? I think the addition of a few more types of color or a bit of a change in the colors you have now could be beneficial.

I ask this because you've used a lot of dithering which can make things look a bit rough when you might want them to be smooth.

Nice! I like the added highlights in the tail. I'd push that further to have a few brighter spots that are very isolated to give the impression of silky long hair.

Looking at your clouds, it looks like you're trying to do something similar to this:

I was referring to the clouds being a bit more sparse to give the composition more depth, like this:

Love it. Very stylistic. I think you could be pushing the boundaries of color a bit more, however.

Also, the background looks a bit like blankets. It's not an unpleasant look, but if you're trying to get misty clouds, I think you could have more distinction between sky and clouds.
Loving it!

Awesome. I know for sure that sometimes my concern for the final result can have a toll on the process for me. I get so locked up in how I thought it should look I stress more than I should and it can ruin the fun that comes with making art.

Apologies, prismacolor = colored pencil. I think it's just a brand that most people use, so I've taken to calling it that.

Dennis, I love the motion you achieved in the trees. I only worry the composition is a bit unbalanced. I love it though- we're doing prismacolor in art class and it's a great new way to think about art.

Pixel Art Feature Chest / Re: A Samusy character for a Metroidy thing

Quick edit to show how I'd change some things.

I'm not amazing with anatomy on small characters, but it seems like it's almost a crouching position. I've played a lot of the 2D metroid games, and your sprite looks remarkably like that (which sounds like what you're going for). However, I never liked how samus always looked like she was an umpire or was doing squats.

I tried to make him lean forward a bit more, and straightened his legs. and clean up some of the other things for clarity. It's really rough, but hopefully you get what I was going for.

Also, it seemed like his arms were a bit too long considering how small his body is.

EDIT:

edit to fix stubby legs and balance.
Love the greebles and detail, however. Sorry I killed those with my edit  :(
