Just a small pixel piece I made today though it'd be nice to hear what you guys think 'bout it. ~_^

Yes I'm lazy and I mirrored it, also I kinda screwed up his helmet, it doesn't seem right.  :-X

edit: replied to your posts on my older topic, sorry for the delay. :blind:

Thanks for the comments, I will reply your posts later though, I'm kinda in hurry atm.  :blind:

Made it too noisy? Pipes are still wip ~

Next time more stuff rather than tile edits.  :n:

I agree with Arachne's edit, and I definitely think the character is cute as all get out. Definitely some really nice stuff going on there.
Thanks.  :)

As for the similar character bit, the head of your character bears distinct resemblance to the monkeys from a game I used to play long ago, Illutia. I'm too lazy to track down a better shot of said monkey, but here's evidence that I'm not entirely insane:

Cute as hell character, though :D
Now that you say so, it does slightly remind of monkey.  ;D

yeah, the big ears make him look a bit monkey-like (which add cuteness, imho), but he's clearly wearing a helmet here, and imho, has some foreign affiliation with both Bomberman and Megaman, which perfectly fit the "shoot and run" look of the game. Good job at how you make him look so determined compared e.g. to Quote in Cave Story (which is a bit too unexpressive to my tastes). I'm looking forward to see him jump, run and hook on the ceiling to swing above dangerous areas :)

Initially, i thought the ninja-webcam thing was the character and that the battery-thing was an opponent. I guess you could keep both of them as opponents without any problem.
Also, i cannot exactly decide whether the green things that grow out of the ground are crystals or vegetal lifeform (well, it could be a crystal-vegetal lifeform too
I must admit that I've got some megaman influence in my work ~ oh and those things are supposed to be grass or small plants etc.  :blind:

Feron: Thanks ~

Teknogames: You've got some nice ideas there.  ::)

I really like the style, but it looks pretty washed out now. The shading on the pipes also makes them look a bit flat.

Something more like this, maybe?

Hey that looks really awesome! I like how you gave the tiles more depth.  :y:
This gave me some ideas ~ let's see if I can do some
improvement.  ::)

Um, yeah Arachne said everything I was going to say, but then she made a great edit too.  So...I guess that's it.  Character is adorable!
Great to hear that you like the new char.  :y:

Thanks for the comments, so many small things I didn't notice before I read your posts, and yeah I'm still working with the backround it's kinda messy I have to admit ~ Also replaced the batterything with a new guy:

I think it matches better with the tiles, but now I got this odd feelin' that someone has made similar character or maybe it's just me....

Also what do you people think is it hard to read or does it look just fine?

These are excellent. Try pincers on the crab? He looks a little uninteresting for his size.
Thanks, and that's pretty neat ideat gotta try it later.  :y:

also some mockup progress:

Meh, I'm really sorry not to been able to reply earlier, I've been a bit busy lately, got new job and also had some issues in my life or problems, dunno which term I should use in this situation.  :-\

Anyways thanks for your comments AdamAtomic and Vertigo-zero. <3

the steam crab would benefit I think from not being mirrored, having a more interesting perspective and lighting.
Yeah it's kinda boring as it' snow, but I'm not gonna bother with it anymore, don't have much motivation to redraw it.

make the game or let me :P Or at least a mock-up
I've never actually managed to finish any of my game projects, so I don't think I'm gonna even try to make game out of this, also if you're interested you may use the sprite in your games without any credit or such.

Here's something new:

It's an early mockup ~  :blind:

Small robot with sword

At first this piece was webcam icon, but it somehow turned into robot.

Steam crab

I don't know how to pixel or draw steam(yes, it's supposed to be steam what comes from it's hole).  :n:

Mockup

It's still WIP ~

I think it looks really cool, especially in 2x or 4x. It gives me lots of inspiration  :y:
Yeah, if it was real game I'd use 4x zoom( or whatever it's called in english ). Oh and I'm glad to hear it gave you inspiration.  ;D

This is really neat. Your use of contrast quite something; you kept the sprites in focus while keeping lots of contrast in the background.
The reason this works, I think, is that while the tiles do have quite a lot of contrast, the sprites use the highlight from the tiles as their main body color;
thus making them pop out more than the tiles. The far wall also helps with the readability in that it uses the body color of the tiles as its highlight color,
and in so doing pushing it far into the realm of background, where the sprites are most prominent.

The only nitpick I have, is that the door behind the player looks a little too complex in such a geometric world,
and it's a little bit too small for the player.

All in all, good job. :)
The door sure doesn't really match with the rest of the tiles.
I tried to fix the door without giving it more height, not sure if it's any better. I'm trying to keep all tiles 16x16 size.  :)

Also put shadows under platforms and ceiling, not sure if they fits in either.  :blind:

It's so damn cute! :P I love it.

All I'd be worried about is proper distinction between player and baddie.
And also, that boxy foreground might eventually get a bit repetitive and boring.

But really, cool!
In my plannings the enemy was going to be somekind of spacemutant thingy, but I got lazy and just palette swapped the playable character.  :-[ Might fix that later tho.
I did the foregorund in the end and I really didn't plan it any further than that, also this mockup is only about that one room, other rooms could have different foregorund, but only if I ever do other rooms. :P

And great that you liked it.  :y:

I agree with Rydin about distinction between goodie and baddie. You can do what they did with Sub-Zero and Scorption or a better example, Ryu and Ken. Switch where the colors aregive the baddies red  helmets and make the rest of them black.
That could also work if I'm not in mood changing that enemy sprite.  :)

Meh hope I didn't typo too much, I should have replied tomorrow since I'm kinda tired atm. Also I'll use less emoticons next time.  ;D
