Pixel Art / Re: "Leader of those armies bright"

Regarding the whole Original Sin thing, bear in mind that humans were created with genitalia while they were still sinless. And Jesus, being sinless, still had normal human anatomy owing to the fact that he was fully human.

The Bible makes it pretty clear that God created sex and approves of it wholeheartedly ^_^ (it is just, for a variety of reasons, only right and good in certain circumstances)

That doesn't really help you with your picture, but I didn't want the inaccurate perception to continue unquestioned.

There is of course a place for those things -- the OT Creativity Thread in General Discussion.

I like =D I have never made an acceptable animation. Hopefully I have time to join this one =)

Nobody here is saying that you aren't up to par. There is no par =P

Look what has happened since you posted here -- your sprite has improved magnificently in only several days and is now very beautiful (IMO). He has pleasing depth now n'everything =)

Your friend is right =) Stay here and continue learning.

I understand that you're tense with nervousness because it's your first sprite and everything. But if you're interested in improving, take criticism as help instead of personal insult -- if you go back and read the replies objectively, you'll see that it's legitimate C&C and that people are giving it because they want to help you =) And the results show that it's worked =D

(And you sure aren't wrong for having an opinion -- look at Alex Hanson White, who continues his mad course of low-saturation work because he thinks that it is fun. *But* he doesn't get offended when people suggest that he increase the contrast ^_^)

You don't have to listen to C&C if you don't agree with it. Personally I am glad that you listened to the shading crits, and I am glad that you did *not* listen to the pose crits (for the reasons I mentioned previously).

Pixel Art / Re: Tremulant Inspired Pixel

Tremulant's pics have small legs too, so it only makes sense, and it works rather well =)

About the hat -- study how Tremulant does cloth (elf's cloak, for example) -- there's not a lot of dithering going on there. You did it well on the rest of the cloth, but the hat is differently textured and looks out of place.

(Sorry, that's all the elaboration I can come up with, this picture far exceeds my own abilities ;)

Lol, I suggest that you keep him pot-bellied. It makes him a little less typical (because a "Shady Man In Cloak" is very typical, but a "Pot-bellied Shady Man In Cloak" is a different story).

I believe the correct term is "Pigasus" ;)

The pig's tail needs to be outlined like the rest of it. The third-from-left leg on the pig does a little "blink" thing that is really wierd. Other than that he looks good (though for such a small sprite I'd lose some dithering and increase the contrast, maybe add shadows to give the pig some volume instead of making him look like a left-to-right gradient).

The guy's walk cycle is *much* better now. But his upper body is completely stiff. Consider how a real person walks: their body sort of rotates along with their hips as one leg moves in front of the other (study the walk cycles around here and you'll see what I mean).

In keeping with Tremulant's style, the dither on the hat should be a bit less obvious.

I haven't got time for more crit than that -- suffice it to say it makes me smile =))

I like the Faerie as a unit (wow, Tremulant is like a genie granting my every request ^_^_^), but agree with metalfox that the pose is what makes it look out of place. (If the particle effects around it are s'posed to be Faerie dust, they look more like motion blur)

Pixel Art / Re: Sky Lady

Love the desaturated colors (as I always do ^_^) but she reminds me of Fran Drescher as "The Nanny", as as Takam has shown, the suit looks a lot like wings. I don't know if you want that or not =) Everything else in the pic looks really beautiful (that is to say "Sky Lady" would be a nice picture without the Sky Lady in it, lol).

I like what you try to do with reusing colors, but the grey-blue on the arm just doesn't work, unless you want her to look like a Nano-aug from Deus Ex.
