Pixel Art / Re: Mechanical shake animation C+C

I don't have any advice to offer, but I can tell you how it reads to me.

It seems as though only the front part of the machine is moving, and they're vibrating not shaking. I don't know what that mechanism on the back is, but if it's meant to be part of the engine than the vibration should be more active on the back half of the robot.

Maybe define the legs and arms more if that's what I'm seeing here.

I was thinking the same thing. Especially after watching the run animation a bit more. But I'm wondering of I need to enlarge the Sprite a bit or just strengthen the contrast.

Shadows look a bit off on the building to the right. Everywhere else the sun looks to be coming straight on the bottom right side, but the top of building casts a shadow on its pillars as though the sun is coming from the upper right.

Looks beautiful though.

Well he's not really doing much. Is there anything in particular you'd like critique on? As far as things go, as long as that's the side view of a human, you kind of nailed it in my mind.

Pixel Art / 4 Frame Run (FastJog) C+C
« on: December 19, 2016, 02:41:19 am »
Looking to get some advice on this little 4frame run for, "PearBoy"

He's based on this run animation I got from OpenGameArt

I'm wondering how it reads. I don't feel very confident in the back hand movement, but maybe I've just been staring at it for far too long.

Updated to look closer to the base image.

It's a little unclear what you want? Do you need help or guidance using palettes? Or do you just want general help?

I wouldn't say you don't know what you're doing. That art is pretty clear. Unless that's not a monitor with some text on a desk.

Ahhh awesome I was just looking over this. Looks like one of those frames got missed but I can definitely see what you mean by just tilting it forward.

So, you mean just go with what you feel like from the start?

Achrileg,

Woo howdy thank you for the feedback.

I was so focused on keeping the actual size of the animation under 64pixels that I didn't leave much room for vertical movement. I definitely see the impact further movement can have. I still don't know how important size is when designing work for a game, but thats for another topic.

I actually did start with the for than copy and pasted limbs back and edited down. The coloring was initiated to help me identify the field of vision (purely personal use).

Your limb movement (really whole body) is just better. Arms are really difficult for me for whatever reason so I'm very thankful to have a nice base.

I think the biggest concern I have with your final compared to what I was attempting to do is that your drawing is the typical side view and I wanted a slightly turned towards the viewer look so you'd see the face the majority of time rather than having it roll side to side. Now that it the way I thought I wouldn't want it, it definitely doesn't matter in the end. You'd see plenty of the face in your view.

I'll check that video shortly. Thanks for all the feedback!
