Pixel Art / Re: AA help
« on: November 19, 2007, 04:08:29 am »
I definitely need to have a light-colored AA to contrast with the backround

I'm sorry, what do you mean by this?

I am trying to make a character that looks...smoother, for a game. I am having trouble primarily with the jacket, trying to make it look like cotton instead of plastic, but with the 'floors' I have already made I think it would be best to have aa that brings the character into focus, something lighter but not a true outline.

Bla:

I think the edit speaks for itself.

Umm, wow, that looks absolutely nothing like I was trying to do.
and how exactly is this supposed to help?

Okay, I am having a little trouble with my hand antialiasing. I am doing game graphics, so I definitely need to have a light-colored AA to contrast with the backround, but my own attempts look...jagged. and a bit pillowshaded.
anyone have any crits that might help me?

I can't help it, I LOVE the aztec/incan mythos, so it tends to show a lot in what I do (sigh) I guess matching the dodonpachi style didn't work out as well as I had hoped.

heh
ummm...
SF2 could have meant  a lot of different things.
and the last arcade game I played  with any regularity was defender. I am old.

I don't remember thunderhawk being from the original street fighter 2. I thought he wasn't introduced until later versions.
chunli, Dahlsim, blanka, hondo, ken, ryu, the dude with the haircut, the three bad guys...
I don't think he came along till later versions, gold or something. Same time as Cammy

Beats me, never heard of it...I just sorta started going and adding things till I thought it looked okay
But, in retrospect, I realised that it didn't have anywhere NEAR enough guns, so I added a few more

Okay, umm, I have been coming here to admire other people's artwork for a really long time.
I never really did any pixel pushing myself, but I have played around with some game stuff.

I thought...well...I'd give this a shot as my first submission. I'd ask for critiques and suggestions but chances are I'd probably fail to understand, or be unable to implement any suggestions. This uses 29 colors.
