2D & 3D / vector or hi res guidance needed
« on: June 12, 2012, 10:42:43 pm »
Well, this is more a thread asking for guidance than critique (yet it's also welcomed), I'm starting to make a game but instead of making it pixelart, the game will contain more high-res graphics-type, yet I'm not sure if keeping the high res art or move into vector, the art looks like this:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v238/Krensprite/dumpa.png

well, my questions are, should I stick with this or just move into vector art ? if I stick with this what programs do you recommend me for animation ( since photoshop is not a great animation program), if I go into vector what programs are there and what are they capable of?

I really want to continue the project but if I must move into vector I want to know it now before it's too late and I'm too lazy to remake all graphics in vector format, thanks for the help  :)!

Pixel Art / Re: WIP: Beat 'em up!

The First guy Juro looks like the pose is going to fall, mostly due to the legs.

The second guy Long John looks amazing, but he looks extremly tall compared to juro, mostly the legs, then apart from that the heads of both player look tiny, mostly the Juro one, same with the arms of Long John yet in the reference you posted the arms are that lenght anyways this is just a small edit just strech and rotate...

Well, it will be nearly the same yet you will have more control and more ways of breaking the grid, if you are more interested you should see the tileset used in Star Ocean

What I do to remove the effect is to use something like this:

I don't follow the lines everytime, I just use them as a guide, as in how it should look, I am really not an expert I have seen better ways of doing it, yet I don't know them, but for me the circle covers most of the basic tiles. If you really want to remove the pattern you should try to use an 8x8 grid.

XDD mcSkippy you are right, I will edit the character later.

@Elk: D;!!! going to give it a try, I just don't want to make people get attracted to those and ignore the other stuffs going on D; they are too colorful? not sure if thats the term, but they just opaque the other stuffs if I make it thicker, but still I will post one ;p.

@coffee: hmm yeah I will try to simplify it more, I agree in a part but not sure how to do it ;/

hmm my main concern is that I beleive the style doesn't match, it doesn't fit, not sure why, I just don't like it, but not sure how to improve it...

I made this mockup for a friend, trying to show him how I would improve his game, he loved it yet I think I could improve it, and what other place than my beloved wayofthepixel to get some help:

top being his, and bottom mine.

I am really not sure what to do >_< I am not entirely happy but don't know what to edit, so please wayofthepixel help me pimp my ride art

Doesn't go for me, I love talking and meeting people. Well, then again I draw way little, despite wanting to work in the field.

But I got my first gig cause I hung out at this forum and thus got noticed by people, so I can only agree with the original thesis.

Also, "being a lone" wolf is a pretty bad excuse for never networking. Maybe there's an issue that goes deeper than just the self perception as 'lone-wolf', but if it's nothing more then just post an art piece, add someone you like from this forum to the MSNs and just be the littlest bit visible, it's sure to help.
Email:    hidden

so um yeah impossible to add you to msn ; (!
but yeah I guess I should post more, <_< I just dislike getting my stuff unnoticed. but erm I guess posting more often might work
* Kren goes and make a thread

I must agree, but erm >_< I beleive artist tend to be lone wolves, they try to improve or just draw, not talk or meet people >-<. atleast thats my perception, whenever I  am at the chat people don't talk that much, they prefer to draw than be talkative..
