Looks good to me, far beyond my capabilities, I like the progress animation.
It seems like you've got quite a bit of spriting methods down.

I feel as though i got lazy and my mind went dull working on fifteen sprites without layers. Alignment is out, and i could set opacity down to make more smooth changes.

Also i realize i need to take breathers because only now do i realize i couldve tried a bit harder to make him look like an octopus xD little suckers on his jelliegs and prrhaps a squishy head afterwards. Larrger eyes.. hm oh well.

General Discussion / I struggle with perspective

Hi fellow pixel artists,

So I'd like to gain some insight into creating walls, how I try see it is in 3d space, my games viewport is at 90* degrees so between straight ahead and top down.
Within the game rectangular room I created walls on all four sides. The problem is how tall should I make these walls, and how can I make it not look flat ? I feel as though i've to create larger walls to allow for more detail but Im not sure.

From what i can see I created my sprites small whch makes it seem as if Im really far away from the game room, but i can see the detail.

So for the top lengthy wall I just create it upwards, (its a brick wall) then at the top of the bricks I made circles to gie the bricks more detail that they are infact bricks, so that wall is mostly fine but there is one thing that bothers me, like if I squish the sprite in height then the bricks are smaller, does that make it look taller, or does adding less layers of brick make it look taller ?

I know if I just create the line of bricks with only the top face showing with the brick holes then I know for a fact it's top down, but as soon as I want to move the camera view down it gets confusing.

Then what is good practice for side walls, from a 90* view. if I leave the top wall with a few layers of brick and the top layer with the brick holes then how would the side walls meet the top wall in the corners ? side walls with only the top layer or multiple layers.

Im sure this is a bit to digest for anyone reading, if you can shed a bit of insight I'll be grateful thank you.

12 movement sprites where say every eighth step the character blinks.

Can someone create a template for me to work with, just the outline ?

I was thinking, shift his face a bit down, show a bit more of the top of his head, bit more of the top of the shoulders.. but then when it comes to torso arms and legs I cant figure it out. it seems too much infront, and then the character feels shorter and basically still platformer material just worse.

Hi fellow pixel artists!

So a while back I had a pixel artist create some art for me, I'd like to learn from the art style and improve on it, so that I can create attire for the characters and all! so I'll be using the art as templates.

This is for a top down game, here's a sample..




The thing is I feel as though the character looks as though he's moving towards me (out of the screen) and into the screen.. instead of up and down.. I only like it because more of the player can be seen.. like the characters face and so on.

Here's how the characters look.



Also any guidance on direction i can go with these ? before I go ahead and remake them.
