Pixel Art / [WIP] Characters!

Hi fellow pixel artists!

So a while back I had a pixel artist create some art for me, I'd like to learn from the art style and improve on it, so that I can create attire for the characters and all! so I'll be using the art as templates.

This is for a top down game, here's a sample..




The thing is I feel as though the character looks as though he's moving towards me (out of the screen) and into the screen.. instead of up and down.. I only like it because more of the player can be seen.. like the characters face and so on.

Here's how the characters look.



Also any guidance on direction i can go with these ? before I go ahead and remake them.

Hi guys,

I started making a game a while back how ever got caught with the blues, I lost files after a format and I've only got the client now, lost the server files, I'd also like to start over since it was a learn as I go along project, I feel like I've got a bit more knowledge to go at it better, create a more solid foundation for the game.

How ever I've been working on this project alone so it might be interesting to work with others on it,


So whether you're a coder/story teller/mapper/artist of some sort, here's a https://www.facebook.com/Golemized/ to the project, There aren't many photos how ever what I had was an over world with around 20 zones, houses, schematics for houses, I had a market system from which to sell mined ore, the mines had a couple of zones, the further down for ore of higher quality etc.

Custom character design and so on, and a ton of ideas. The theme is steampunk/victorian, I'd like to add quests and fun features..I was working on the multiplayer side of it before I stopped.

The plan's to start over, draw things out and then start coding. So far players will just be dropped into the immigration office and from there explore the world. It's called golemized because pets play a huge role, they'd have most of the story around them and the mad scientists that created them. They are used for battles and for carrying stuff, for mining and so on.

So if you'd like to share ideas if you can imagine such a game world let me know.
It is definitely not a small project. And in truth it wont be created to the best it could be, because I'm not an expert programmer, story teller or sprite artist. also you could just like the fb page if you're interested in keeping track and maybe checking out opportunities at times when I'll pay for new content, also if you follow you can suggest new art and so on. And maybe make it too.

Pixel Art / best angle ? or how do I approach this (house + roof)

Hi Pixel artists,

I'd like to create a larger version of the house I made earlier, but a problem I run into is with the outlines, I'm thinking of creating it from like a top down perspective, how ever not entirely top down, maybe 2 o clock ? if the house is at 6.



These houses all look weird to me.

Like should the back of the house/roof remain the same size, or get smaller ? and should it decrease in height or increase ?

Pixel Art / Sword evolve

Hi guys,

This sword has really tired me up, I know if I spend more time being patient I'll be able to finish a sword that looks good, but for now here's what I can come up with.



Must've taken me around three hours to make these sprites, most sprites i think of will be new to me, so the idea of a sword evolving was interesting and I thought I'd give it a try. Things I noticed is that it seems a bit flat, detail is missing, it wouldn't make for a clean animation due to lack of frames. the shading is a bit messed up but I tried to keep the light point to the left of the swords. I didn't go too wild with adding more colors either, the end product of the sword is a bit daft. It could do with the spikes appearing by the hilt instead. But I'll leave that for another day.

I tried to animate it, It hurts my existence.

Pixel Art / [WIP] Treasure Chests woohoo

Hi fellow pixel artists,

I have a major affinity for chests, because that's where a lot of awesome stuff are held XD And the better the chest looks, the better the loot! most of the times anyway.

So I decided to create some chests, gold silver and a lesser silver chest. Basically when you look at it it's suppose to tell you well, you're about to get some good loot, so anywhoo..

Here they are. :D



Alrighty so I had a little time left and thought I'd be productive, I think these chests could be animated like presented in this spritesheet ? The chests look kinda fine to me, just that they might need chains if I skip out on the forth sprite where the chest is open.

Any tips ideas ? They were fun to do, I'd very much enjoy creating a range of chests in the future. But for now these are fine for me.

Pixel Art / [WIP] Medieval House - improvements ?

Hey Pixel artists,

I decided to try out creating a house out of pixels, I feel like it's from medieval times, Something about the shape of it feels off though. I used a rather big color palette for this, but I wanted a bit more color to it.





How does this house look so far ?
It's rather small so I'd like to do a larger one afterwards.

Added a second building that's still being built.
Last thing ill be doing is adding underground sewerage or water pipes. If I can. xD will see how it goes.

My net was down so i was unable to research on this so I went and created a small sprite anyway, it's also my first animation.

Hi fellow artists,

So I edited my post since it was probably seen as an art dump which I apologize for, I'd like some critique on this flower pot.

The part I dont get here is how to make the plant appear as if it's entering the soil ?
