I am kinda colorblind

I don't know if I would be able to do it myself without the edits of IF, I will draw something new with the current style to see if I learned anything.

Eyes are red based on some google image I found
What makes you choose ver 2 over 1 personal preference or it looks better on this character?
As for the pose- I am trying to make standard stance pose like in some 2d games, what can I do to make it less awkward?
Tommorow or maybe even today I will try to update it.(Chin, less friendly look on face, hair, pose)

Wow, everytime I look at your version and go back to my stuff, my sprite starts looking worse to me
How much time did you spend on creating those 2 sprites?
The poses are perfect, it would take forever for me to make something like this.
Anyway here's update I did before reading your post:
Kinda diffrent pose, colors, shading.
Tried making his arm muscles visible, also changed hair.
Is it any better now?

Made him more muscular, changed some shades and proportions.
