Pixel Art / Re: help with breathing animation
« on: November 07, 2016, 03:43:24 am »
I think the free arm shoulder should move up a little when inhaling is nearing it's peak, the other shoulder should not move as a result of breathing since it is under tension. A quick edit to show what I mean:

Awesome illustration of breathing!

Colors are placeholders. First time I'm making a serious attempt at animating fire, so any feedback welcome!
EDIT: worked on it some more.
EDIT2. Third time's the charm? I think it looks more realistic with the increased bright spot.

Yeah, but if you're already comfortable with PS is there any reason at all to switch? Just curious.

Hi, I'm interested. Do you have a e-mail adress where I can reach you? I have some work samples that are not up on my portfolio that I'd like to show you, and e-mail would be the easiest option for that.

Pixel Art / Re: [C+C] KoF style pixel portraits

by closer to binary i sorta mean that the 'blocks' of shade have kind of a harder edge than they do in your pictures. like a sort of midground between cell and standard shading, i guess?

Good observation. I suppose I have emphasized the midtones a bit more compared to the KoF 2000 portraits.

Those really look like KoF portraits. Nice job! :)

Thanks :)

Looking at the references there myself, I think you might not be channeling quite enough anime into it.

These look better than the kind of fighters portraits, though, for that exact reason.
So I wouldn't worry terribly over it.

The shading MIGHT be a bit closer to binary on the original portrait style too, but I can't tell for sure.

Yep, that was intentional. My intention wasn't necessarily to make the style as close to KoF as possible but rather using it as a starting point/inspiration. What do you mean by the shading being closer to binary?  ???

Here's an idea. I envisioned it with a golden hour kind of light scenario  :)

Pixel Art / Re: Metal Shading Practice!

Lots of great advice in here! Thanks guys! Hopefully this one puts enough of it to use to pass as metal now.

@drain, I increased contrast and tried playing with the shapes a bit more like in your edit. Hoping my highlights make more sense now. Re: the blue, wouldn't the pipe reflect the sky color as well?

@mystery meat, those rim highlights are exactly what I was trying to capture! Thanks!

It appears as if you're mixing two value properties. The reflection to the right is too strong compared to the rest of the pipe and makes it look transparent more than anything. You'll have to bring in some blue and beige on the left side aswell if you want the reflection quality to match.
Remember that the smoother the metal is the more mirror like the reflection will be. Compare the two materials in this picture below; perhaps your pipe is somewhere in between?

He's got a jiggly booty :D seriously, it would have been perfect if it was supposed to be a curvy afro american mama. I think though based on his muscular look that you might want to turn it down a notch.
