if you guys dont reply is that because there's nothing to say cause they're perfect (very unlikely) or cause i just dumped too much stuff at once which scared you people off ?

in any case, i got the engine to work and i'm quite happy with what i've got


currently working on the slide jump kick and backflip which is why they're so glitchy

I really loved the battle menu Sinkin made, but i didnt really show enough info to the player so i tried to enhance it



yeah i took the sprites from crystal cause they're pretty much perfect

you'll notice i chose to show the type of your pokemon, as well as the enemy's type (if he has already been encountered ; otherwise it'll show "???")

it was fun making that small 4x4 font for the types, trying to get things to be readible at that scale isnt easy !


i realize its kinda busy at the bottom but i dunno how to sort the the tiles in a less clusterfucked way

well i think its one person cause you can definitely distinguish how he often uses bright selout instead of no outline like they usually do, his recurring choice of very light colors, and total absence of gradients that are otherwise omnipresent in the series sprites so i figure its probably just one guy that kinda strays from how others define the style

those shin megami tensei sprites are quite sexy though, SMT is played kinda like fire emblem iirc ?
i do agree they're a joy to watch especially at how consistent the style is kept and great designs all around


though i'd have trouble believing that this guy and the Rondo/SOTN guy are the same person because of the differences in how they handle posing



on another note, i recently started playing lunar knight on ds and wow the sprite work is amazing


too bad its near impossible to find sprite rips of this game, i tried to look into the ROM but they have very strange file formats, even a friend who's quite savvy with this kind of stuff couldnt manage :/

heyy tuna, long time no see :)

for that girl's kick it seems kinda weird that she ends with her feet suggesting a different perspective/camera angle than what she started with
the size of her hands keeps changing all over the place too

as for the big guy i like the idea of having him stop at those frames, but his feet suggest otherwise
maybe have his front leg bent and his foot put solidly on the ground so that it feels like a nice heavy step for him to land on


though i really like these keep it up

try and change your palette

atm the dark skin tones go into some grayish tone, you should rather hueshift it towards reds


btw try and level the headset a little better and make the dithering a little noticeable


i'd also recommend adding detail beteween the eyebrows for a more angry look

i think the design could be more fun if you played around with the sizes of the different body parts to exaggerate it

so i messed around with a bunch of stuff to try and show you how you should manage the proportions and anatomy
(sorry there's AA but that way you can see what ive changed and hey just try and make your own instead of using my edit as a basis)

i willingly didnt touch the face but bear in mind its really not feminine atm

EDIT: hmm didnt notice how broad these shoulders were...

so yeah im lexou, i live in paris and im in my last year of highschool before hopefully joining art school


i dont really sprite that often but i dunno i guess i consider myself somewhat decent at it

also i hang around TSR quite a bit and i recognize some old members from there ;)



and is it just me or dayum are these emotes cute as fuq  :)
