I tried to do a version. (The version just above look better though).

I did not have so much time so I focused on the shadows and changing the feets which looked wrong to me. Also tried to give him biceps.



I think the biggest problem is that you made him too big. I am also a beginner and I find that making smaller pictures usually looks better. like maximum 60 pixles high.

I will definetly use a lof of this. You really gave the swing some weight.

It really takes a lot of learning to get the timings right.

Yes, some of the frames are rotoscoped.. (I hope that is not too frowned upon?)

"low-level kungfu punk kid".  Well, he is supposed to be a low level farmer. But I see your point. Good point with the shoes I will change that directly.

I prefer to blend colors by using a 1px brush on ~50% opacity and work in 24 bit mode. I just color-pick to select colors from the "palette" which is the image itself. I use Replace color to tweak the individual colors or similar colors.
