Pixel Art / Re: walk animation

That ling remains rather unhelpful. I tried to manually extract the images from the sprite sheet and put them together. The vertical movement is surely off but you get the idea.

Unless the right side will be further refined, it doesn't seem like pixel art. Not much pixel-level control.

It looks good and similar to the photo, though. This is a good topic to read through if you haven't already: http://wayofthepixel.net/index.php?topic=8110.0

For the top left portrait of the dino, you had such a good opportunity to invoke emotion and detail and expression into the character. It does not look like nearly enough attention was paid to making its portrait visually appealing. I would break it down into smaller and more complex planes, and add more detail so it doesn't look like just a resize with resolution adjusted.

Right now they're walking away from the edge of an enormous cliff. The boots and the tree are sitting right at the edge of the cliff, about to fall off the side of the flat world.

If you're not going for that scene, you need to correct the perspective issues.

I added a bunch of "buildings" or something, because the fact is, if you're not looking out at the ocean, you seldom see the true horizon line. It is obscured by hills or buildings or trees etc.

And since the viewer can see so far forward, if you have the path going straight back, you might have to put its origin there so it's not ridiculously long, or curve it until it's obstructed.

Now, I've not studied perspective or anything so I can't do it perfectly, but I'm just speaking from experience.

Why... Why did China come to mind, specifically ??? Why not Japan? Japan appreciates pixelart way more than China.

I think it was just a joke, because of population size. Since China has a billion and some people, if you want to target the largest demographic, target Chinese youths.

I tried my hand at AA-ing the dome of the head; I didn't touch the rest of it. I don't profess to be an expert on this subject or understand the theory fully, but it looks smoother to me.

I also changed the outline color on the inside of the figure. Usually with outlines, I've seen it looks better if the silhouette outline has higher contrast than the rest of the outlines.

I think the new edit is a step backwards. The shading on the snout was better before being replaced by a line, and I basically disagree with all the changes and the edit. The original is a good style and done well. I makes me want to see more art from you.

To the original, maybe you could add some aa and read up on the theory of pixel art. http://www.pixeljoint.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=11299&PID=139320#139320

You are banding excessively. This is a helpful thread by Helm: http://wayofthepixel.net/index.php?topic=8110.20

I sketched a bit to try to get a closer resemblance to jigglypuff.

Your lines look too harsh because they are solid colored and dark without AA. The ears I made more triangular and the eyes smaller. Overall the colors were too saturated. Also I think jigglypuff's legs are feet, not legs, so I made them look like he is standing plantigrade rather than digitigrade.

I shrunk the ears two pixels each to see how it would look (maybe something like this, but edited?). In a straight on view I think the full extent of the ear will not be visible because it lies relatively flat against the head. Also, I don't know exactly what goes on in that gif; it seems his hair also gets bigger when he faces the camera.
