You should try to use the black outline as a guide and get rid of it as you go, because right now it could possibly hurt your piece by making it too coloring-book-ish.  Try and use shading to define the forms, not outlines to define the forms.  Keep going, I can't wait to see more.

Yeah, stuff like this is OK if you learn something from it and apply it to other pieces.  I wouldn't call this stuff completely yours by itself because the colors and everything are so heavily referenced that it's more just a copy of the original than an original work all its own.  You should just use these as learning tools, and for your next pieces eyeball the colors based on what you've learned.

Just popping in to say that I love everything about this mockup so far.  The character just  has so much charm (especially with the huge wrench), the style of the background and the ship is perfect steampunk, and the run cycle is so cute.  All I can suggest is that you'd better spend a lot of time on the story, because a game that looks this good and has this much style definitely deserves a memorable story.

Yeah, this is awesome to the max.

I love how you can really tell which is the foreground and which is the background, and I think it's because the darkest color of the foreground is different than the darkest color of the background.  In general I think the background is too 2-dimensional, like wallpaper almost, simply because you can't see any more trees past the initial ones.

I disagree, I'd say keep the colors.  They work great in this situation, as they seem to represent some sort of overcast sky or something.  But yeah you've got some perspective issues going on...and you should also shade the roof.  Nice job so far.  Post more!

Very nice work on this, B.O.R.B.  You did a great job with the greyscale in terms of keeping everything from blending together into a single shade.  Great shading on the sidewalk and especially the curb.  The problem with the facial expression is that I'm not sure what he's trying to express.  Is he blowing smoke?  Saying "oooh"?  Is he surprised?  I'm not quite sure.

JJ Naas: I like the comic, it's very well drawn in terms of telling a story.  I'm thinking some more realistic facial features would go well with the style you have for everything else.  Some awkward posings with the girl, especially when she's being lifted by the fairy (it's not that easy to hold on to something with one arm when your hand is in that position), but overall it looks great.  Is it going to be colored?

Adarias:  I love it!  I'd like to see the other ones.
